When Peter asked the Lord to bid him to come out of the boat to Him, the Lord did (Matthew 14:28-29). Peter’s actions illustrate, however, that one’s desire does not always stay focused on the image ahead (14:30). Who can’t relate to Peter’s failing in this regard? I don’t know of a single person. Though one can relate, let us not forget the Lord’s description of Peter’s failure when He addressed Peter with a new name: “O you of little faith…” Lesson: Faith is directly related to our eyes being focused on Jesus.
