The words of the wicked are, “Lie in wait for blood,” But the mouth of the upright will deliver them (Proverbs 12:6, NKJV). In the previous verse it is the thoughts (or plans) of those who are righteous that leads toward the path of righteousness, there is a desire to walk on it. The counsel of the wicked, however, has no real good within because it seeks to harm another in some way or form. Lying in wait for blood can be understood literally (plans to kill), or it can be understood figuratively as slander. Either way, nothing good will come of it.
